History buff and comedian Dave Anthony was considering starting a new podcast in 2014. His idea was to write up an unknown story from American history and read it to a different comedian each week. Having not heard of the story before, Dave hoped the
comedian’s reaction would be hilarious. He gave it a go and his first guest was comedian Gareth Reynolds. They immediately clicked and fans flooded social media telling Dave to never change the co-host. And he didn’t.

Sticking to the formula of Dave reading Gareth a story he has never heard, The Dollop quickly shot up the charts. Fans of both comedy and history were drawn to the wild stories and quick improv skills of Gareth. With millions of downloads, The Dollop has
become a regular presence on top of the podcast charts, as well as selling out shows in both the US and Australia.

And of course there is The Bulltown Comedy Series, which is always special to us all.  This month’s headliner is Joe Perrow!  Winner of 2015’s North Carolina’s Funniest Person Contest at Goodnight’s Comedy Club.  The show also features Brandy Brown, JD Etheridge and Reid Pegram, all favorites in the NC comedy scene with a style of comedy for everybody.

See you all there.

The Sunday Show: Caleb Synan

Caleb Synan returns to Durham! It’s been a year since Caleb has performed in the Bull City, and now he’s back on tour and stopping in again at 106 Main.
Caleb Synan’s breakout performance on CONAN was praised as “One of the Top 5 Late Night Debut’s of 2015” by TheLaughButton.com. Though his parents remain skeptical of his profession, he is a comedic force to be reckoned with – headlining clubs across the country and at home in LA! He continues to stay fake humble about his talents, even though his deceptively smart blend of Southern charm and razor sharp wit has earned him appearances on Last Comic Standing, Montreal’s Just for Laughs Festival, and the title of “Wittiest” in Franklin County High School’s 2009 Yearbook. He did not write this bio himself, either. He swears.
But he did write and star in his own web-series for Comedy Central entitled “Deadliest Chef.” And in 2016 he performed stand up on Hulu’s Coming to the Stage, Fuse TV’s Uproarious, and on a tour for the US troops in South Korea and Japan! And he’ll have a margarita with you if you play your cards right!

Hosted by Deb Aronin, headlined by comedians from all over the country, The Sunday Show at 106 Main is the laid back professional comedy show you’ve been waiting for.

106 Main is a Durham favorite. Part cocktail bar, part dive bar, part indescribable, this place is ideal for grabbing a drink after work and airing your grievances to a compassionate bartender.

Tickets are $10

Dave Waite and Grant Lyon in The Bro House Tour

Hey comedy fans,

Great seeing you at the Dave Stone show!  But there’s no time to lose.  Mark those calendars for June 4, we’re getting ready for two roommates slinging jokes all across the United States.

Dave Waite and Grant Lyon: The Bro House Tour

106 Main  106 E. Main St.  Durham, NC  Sunday, June 4, 2017  8PM  $10

Meet the Stand Up Comedy Odd Couple

“I’m sort of the Ben Stiller, funny straight man, if you will, and Dave is sort of this dirtbag with a heart of gold, and I think that contrast plays off each other very well.”  So says Grant Lyon, the L.A. based comedian touring with his good friend and roommate, Dave Waite.  The two have put together The Bro House Tour and will be performing at 106 Main in Durham, NC on Sunday, June 4.   Both Dave and Grant have won the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival in Atlanta in 2012 and 2014 respectively. Both have appeared on the syndicated radio program “The Bob and Tom Show” and can be heard on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio.  And they have done so with their own distinctive voices. Dave can easily be described as a charismatic oddball with the most charming of rants and peculiar look at life. And Grant, as described by the San Francisco Weekly is “a hilariously sharp observer, not one of those white guy tired, white-guy bellyachers.”

Dave also began One Year Dave, a project where he allows the world to tell him what to do for 365 days.  Every Tuesday he posts a list of things he can do that week and let’s his fans vote on what that thing will be. “The motivation was to do anything instead of nothing.” Says Dave, “There’s so much free time as a comedian. It’s so easy to become obsessed with wasting your life, all the mistakes you’ve made, ‘Where’s my career going?’ all that sort of stuff. ….I’ve always liked books where somebody commits to doing something for an entire year.  I wanted to be accountable in some way. That’s why I made it so people could vote every week. …I decided to let the internet be my boss.”

The two rising stars are building up their merits quickly.  Dave Waite debuted on late night television with his performance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Grant Lyon is a contributing writer for the Huffington Post and “Interview Date,” the short film his wrote and starred in, was eligible for an Academy  Award in 2013.

Dave Waite and Grant Lyon will be performing at 106 Main in Durham on Sunday, June 4 at 8PM. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at ComedyDurham.com/events. Hosted by Durham comedian Deb Aronin.

Hey there kids,

Respect the Road Comedy Tour and Challenge is coming our way Sunday, October 9 at 8PM. at 106 Main in Durham. Tickets just $7 bucks!

Comedian Reid Clark, Meredith Armstrong, and Jordan Bench are three comedians traveling across the country documenting their struggles and participating in challenges on the road to amuse and amaze you.

They will film themselves doing things such as performing without pants, hitchhiking all dangerous like, and inverting all gatorades in a Wal-Mart.

Also you can help Reid get a new testicle.

So who are the comics?

Meredith: A style of comedy that will simultaneously delight and disgust. Her experience both as your favorite neighborhood slut (her words) and traveling ER nurse have provided her with a unique and interesting perspective on human interactions. Meredith will take you on a journey that will make you laugh, cry, and probably do that thing where you wince and groan at the same time.

Jordan Bench: Originally from Sammamish, WA but now a transplant in Wilmington, NC. He’s hosted at the Cape Fear Comedy Festival two years in a row and has opened for comedians like Eddie Efft and Ron Funches. If you enjoy comedy that will make you question why you left the house then Jordan might be a comic for you. He dances like everyone is watching.

Reid Clark: the HEADLINER. A five year comedian with appearances all across the US. He’s worked with Fortune Feistier, Alonzo Bodden, Neal Brennan, and Trevor Noah at Dead Crow Comedy Room in Wilmington, NC. He was a joke writer for Orlando Jones. And written, directed and performed for music videos that have been in festivals and Funny or Die. Also a bunch of other really great stuff.

Reid gave up his right testicle for comedy. No, really.

His comedy has been described as dark, blue, and political, with elements of musicality and improvisation.

Once again this is at 106 Main in Durham. That’s both the location and the name of the bar. Tickets are $7. Check out our shows page to get tickets. Or buy them from Deb (me) in person! OR go check out 106 main in Durham and buy one directly from them.
