Hey everyone. I’m very VERY happy to announce that the Comedy Durham Saturday open mic you know and love is back. This time we’ll be at Hunky Dory. The coolest of cool places. Get some beer, get some vinyl records, get some “dankness” as the kids say. Oh, and get some comedy.
Sign up 7:30 Show at 8, as always. We’ll be in the downstairs area. The Mic will come back on March 2, which is also the grand re-opening of Hunky Dory, so grab a beer and whatnot and check out their stuff. You’ll be in the best mood for comedy after you do.

And, of course the Bulltown Comedy Series is coming up. This month features Lew Morgante, Will Purpura, Janeen Slaughter and Lauren Faber. Tuesday, February 19 at Fullsteam Brewery. Free, but we have a tip spittoon in case you’re feeling giddy. Show at 9, but get there early for your drinks and your food.
Love all of you,
Hey guys. Hope I’ll see all of you tonight at the Bulltown Comedy Series! The Dulce Sloan show was so much fun and I can’t wait to do another big show at Motorco Music Hall. So I’m asking for suggestions. I know the comedians I like, but who do you like? Let me know and I’ll see if I can bring them in for an epic show.
Also remember, Sam’s Quik Shop is now closed, so the Saturday mic is on hiatus for about a month. I should have it up and running some time in February. I will keep you updated.
See you tonight at 9. Get there early for beer and food. We’re funnier after you’ve had a few.
Featuring Joe Kelley and hosted by Deb Aronin
It’s not too late to get a ticket. See you there!
Dulcé Sloan is the latest full-time correspondent to join Comedy Central’s “Best F#@king News Team” on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. This past year, Dulcé was just named by Rolling Stone as one of the 10 Comedians You Need To Know and was hailed by TimeoutLA as a 2017 Comedian to Watch. She has also been honored as the 2016 NBC Stand Up Showcase Winner, a Montreal Just For Laughs New Face and as a Comedian to Watch on The Steve Harvey Show.
Dulcé is truly a unique emerging voice in the world of comedy. She offers a fresh and honest perspective that speaks truth to power and eviscerates the status quo. Most recently, she was cast in the FOX pilot “Type-A” opposite Eva Longoria and the Amy Poehler project “Dumb Prince” for NBC. She has also appeared on MTV’s “Acting Out,” Comedy Central’s @Midnight, Tru’s “Comedy Knockout,” made her stand-up debut on TBS’ Conan, and has made multiple appearances as a correspondent on “E! News Daily.” Her signature point-of-view and confidence drives her hilarious views on everything from her personal relationships to the absurdities of society.
It’s true, Sam’s is closing. Don’t worry the mic will keep going (I’ll let all of you know when I get confirmation on the new location) but it’s time to say goodbye to Sam’s. I’m sad to see this place go, so let’s make this last open mic count. This will still be an open mic, so please sign up at 7:30. But I’ll have some food out at 7. I encourage people to bring food, potluck style. There will also be our regular comedians doing some of their best stuff. Expect to see Reid Pegram, Eric Duffy, Dink Kearney, Virginia Wallace and more!
I’ll see all of you there.

History buff and comedian Dave Anthony was considering starting a new podcast in 2014. His idea was to write up an unknown story from American history and read it to a different comedian each week. Having not heard of the story before, Dave hoped the
comedian’s reaction would be hilarious. He gave it a go and his first guest was comedian Gareth Reynolds. They immediately clicked and fans flooded social media telling Dave to never change the co-host. And he didn’t.
Sticking to the formula of Dave reading Gareth a story he has never heard, The Dollop quickly shot up the charts. Fans of both comedy and history were drawn to the wild stories and quick improv skills of Gareth. With millions of downloads, The Dollop has
become a regular presence on top of the podcast charts, as well as selling out shows in both the US and Australia.
And of course there is The Bulltown Comedy Series, which is always special to us all. This month’s headliner is Joe Perrow! Winner of 2015’s North Carolina’s Funniest Person Contest at Goodnight’s Comedy Club. The show also features Brandy Brown, JD Etheridge and Reid Pegram, all favorites in the NC comedy scene with a style of comedy for everybody.

The Bulltown Comedy Series is here, and we’re celebrating our seniors with The Silver Senior himself, John Boni. He’s written for the Electric Company, 227, The Facts of Life and many more. He even has an Emmy! Listen to him tell you to get off his lawn, just kidding. He’s going to tell jokes about old people sex. Tuesday’s show also features Kathleen McDonald, Bishop Omega, Micah Hanner, and Britt Spruill.
See you all there.
Also coming up is The Dollop Podcast! The show about history, comedy, and learning.
